200 missiles: Israel claims that with the help of the US it successfully repelled a massive Iranian missile attack.

Israel and the US repelled an Iranian missile attack
Israel and the United States of America report that they successfully repelled a massive missile attack by Iran that took place on October 1, 2024. Iran, however, claims that about 80% of the missiles reached their targets.
According to Israeli military data, Iran launched about 180-200 ballistic missiles at Israeli territory. Most of the missiles were intercepted by Israel and the US air defense systems, although some did reach targets within the country.
The Israeli army reported that the attack has ended and allowed residents to leave their shelters. Preliminary data indicates that there are no fatalities among Israelis, but there are reports of minor injuries. Specifically, two people sustained minor injuries from shrapnel in Tel Aviv. It is also reported that two Palestinians died – one in Jericho on the West Bank and another in the Gaza Strip, where one of the Iranian missiles fell.
Israel has resumed operation of its airspace, which was closed during the attack. Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari said that the attack will have consequences and that Israel has plans for a response that will be carried out at a Time and place of its choosing.
Iran claims that the attack was in response to the killings of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders, specifically Ismail Haniyeh, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Abbas Nilforushan. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps warned of a "thousand-fold" response in the event of an Israeli reaction.
The US actively assisted Israel in intercepting the missiles. American destroyers in the eastern Mediterranean shot down several missiles launched by Iran. President Joe Biden personally monitored the situation from the White House Situation Room.
The international community has expressed concern over the escalation of the conflict. UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for an immediate ceasefire, stating that "escalation for escalation" must stop.
The situation remains tense, and further developments will depend on Israel's response to this attack. Israeli authorities urge citizens to follow official announcements and adhere to the instructions of the Home Front Command.
