Tragedy at the Uludağ resort in Turkey

A fire occurred at the hotel in the Uludağ resort in Turkey, resulting in the deaths of skier Berkin Usta and his father. This was reported by Glavcom, citing Milliyet.

During the fire, which broke out in a 9-story hotel, Berkin Usta and Yahya Usta were in a room on the 5th floor. After an investigation by Turkish authorities, 35 violations of fire safety regulations were found in the hotel.

Berkin Usta competed in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, finishing 43rd in the giant slalom. He also participated in the 2019 Junior World Championship, where he placed 68th.

Legendary Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics passes away

Japanese athlete Akinori Nakayama, a six-Time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics, passed away at the age of 83. The cause of death was stomach cancer. This was reported by Glavcom.

Nakayama won four gold medals at the 1968 Olympic Games, specifically in ring exercises, parallel bars, horizontal bar, and team all-around. He won two more gold medals at the 1972 Olympics, in ring exercises and team competition. In total, he has 12 medals at World Championships, including 7 golds.

In 2005, Nakayama was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. One of the elements in the ring exercises is named after him - 'Nakayama'.
