Oleksandr Kalyaninv was born in 1992 and always dreamed of a career as a pilot. He graduated from the Kropyvnytskyi flight academy, where he obtained qualifications as a pilot engineer and research engineer. In April 2021, he received a master's degree in aviation transport.

The head of Rosaviation, Dmitry Yadrov, stated that thick fog and low visibility were among the main causes of the crash. The aircraft commander attempted to land the plane in Grozny twice but was unsuccessful.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called for a fair investigation into the air disaster.
According to the head of the Ukrainian Center for Counteracting Disinformation, the Russian surface-to-air missile system (SAM) caused the air disaster. He claims that the plane was damaged during the actions of the Russian military, who instead of landing in Grozny diverted it to Kazakhstan.
