Most Greenland residents oppose the US: survey.

Most residents of Greenland do not support the idea of their island joining the US, reports The Guardian, citing a survey they conducted.

US President Donald Trump has stated several times his plans for the annexation of the Danish territory. However, less than 30% of Americans consider this necessary.

US Vice President Mike Pence expressed the opinion during a visit to Greenland that Denmark 'is not doing its job for the local population' and added that Greenland should be under the protection of the US, not Denmark.

During his visit to Greenland, US Vice President Mike Pence accused Denmark of insufficiently ensuring the security of Greenland and expressed a desire to protect the Danish territory. President Trump also continuously talks about the US having control over Greenland, reports Reuters.

Mike Pence stated that the US does not plan to increase its military presence in Greenland but intends to invest in resources, including naval ships.

He also promised to respect Greenland's sovereignty but at the same Time noted that the island could benefit from cooperation with the US, which was deemed unfair by the Prime Minister of Denmark.

President Trump believes that the US should acquire Greenland to ensure global security, as the island plays an important role in world politics. He also noted that military ships pass through Greenland, and the US will not allow this.
