Stopping the transit of Russian gas may threaten Ukraine's gas pipeline system

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should remember the need to protect the country's gas pipelines when deciding on the cessation of Russian gas transit. This was reported by Bloomberg.

It is noted that the occupiers have not attacked one of the largest gas pipeline networks in the world, through which Russian gas flows.

If transit stops, pipelines may become targets, as happened with gas storage facilities and power sources

This could create technical problems that would complicate heating homes across Ukraine during the winter.

On January 1, 2025, Ukraine will cease the transit of Russian gas with the possibility of resuming it at the request of the European Commission, provided it is not Russian gas. However, the transit of Russian oil will continue in accordance with the European Energy Charter.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine does not plan to continue the transit of Russian gas.

The European Union is rapidly depleting its gas storage facilities due to cold weather and reduced maritime imports. A similar situation occurred during the energy crisis three years ago.
