Bloomberg: Trump demands Ukraine's agreement on a ceasefire in exchange for a mineral deal and the restoration of aid.

Trump wants to link the deal with Ukraine to demands from Kyiv
U.S. President Donald Trump wishes to tie the conclusion of a mineral resource exploitation deal between the U.S. and Ukraine to a demand for a ceasefire with Russia. Media reports indicate that the American side hints that the Ukrainian leader must agree to a path toward a truce and negotiations with Moscow.
It has also been stated that these additional conditions are the main reason for the delay in signing the agreement, although both leaders have expressed readiness to finalize the process.
President Trump is seriously considering the possibility of resuming negotiations if Ukraine takes specific steps to build trust and engage in talks with Russia, noted Mike Waltz, U.S. National Security Advisor.
Meanwhile, American officials are negotiating with Russia, while their intentions regarding pressure on Moscow remain unclear.
Recall that the Trump administration demands territorial concessions from the Ukrainian side and has already stated that the ceasefire deal also requires the exclusion of Ukraine's membership in NATO. It remains unclear whether the U.S. will provide any other security guarantees besides those related to the mineral resource exploitation agreement.
Many European officials believe that Russian President Putin cannot be a trusted party, emphasizing that Putin's ultimate goal remains the seizure of Ukraine. The cessation of intelligence sharing could significantly limit the defensive operations and capabilities of the United Kingdom, as well as lead to a deterioration in regional security.
The UK government is actively working on restoring military assistance and intelligence for Ukraine. President Trump aims for a rapid ceasefire; however, many European officials doubt that this can happen without additional security guarantees and the involvement of peacekeepers from the West.
