Brigadier General Shapovalov appointed to an important position.


President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the appointment of a new coordinator for relations with allies - Brigadier General Hennadiy Shapovalov. He stated that Shapovalov will work with Ukraine's partners in Germany, and his task will be to coordinate security assistance to Ukraine.
According to the president, Hennadiy Shapovalov will work in Wiesbaden, which is the location of the NATO command for providing assistance and training for Ukraine (NSATU). The NSATU center was opened in accordance with the commitments made by NATO members at the Alliance summit in July 2014.
Information about Hennadiy Shapovalov
Hennadiy Shapovalov recently graduated from the U.S. Army War College, which trains senior officers for the U.S. Army and foreign attendees. He was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in March 2022. Previously, he held the position of brigade commander of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakov Handziuk.
In April 2024, Shapovalov was appointed commander of the Operational Command 'South', the previous commander of this position - Andriy Kovalchuk - became the head of the Odessa Military Academy. Additionally, the former commander of the 55th Artillery Brigade, Colonel Roman Kachur, will head the Academy of Ground Forces.
