Ukrainians have been told which banknotes have been added to the black list of exchangers and may cause problems when exchanging currency.

According to 'Khylya', in Ukraine, problems with exchanging old dollars arise primarily. Many exchange points do not accept dollars that are 20 years or older. The biggest issues concern one-hundred-dollar bills from 1996, which have been added to the unofficial 'black list'.

All currency exchange points in Ukraine are supposed to operate according to the rules established by the National Bank of Ukraine, but complaints often arise that financial institutions either refuse to accept old dollars or impose an additional commission for their exchange. This particularly concerns one-hundred-dollar bills from 1996.

The banknote from 1996 features a special design. It is green in color and displays an image of Benjamin Franklin in an oval frame on the front side.

Problems with exchanging these banknotes have arisen due to the threat of counterfeiting. Newer versions of dollars have an improved security system, making it difficult for exchange points to verify the authenticity of old notes. Because of this, many exchangers refuse to accept such dollars, or buy them at a lower rate or with an additional commission.

Danilo Hetmantsev, the head of the committee of the Verkhovna Rada on finance, tax, and customs policy, reported on his Telegram channel that he received many complaints from citizens about the unlawful actions of financial institutions. According to his information, such institutions buy dollars at a lower rate depending on the year of issue of the banknote.

'Fraudsters have once again managed to deceive citizens and profit from this. But it turned out that the situation is even worse, and despite the committee's directives, law enforcement does not notice illegal exchangers,' he noted.

Ukrainian citizens are advised to immediately report cases of refusal to exchange old dollars. Complaints can be sent to the committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the National Bank, or reported to the police. This will reduce the possibility of abuse by official currency exchangers.

It is important to note that according to established rules, all legal exchange points in Ukraine must accept American dollars of all years of issue without any restrictions, starting from 1914. Refusal to accept such banknotes or the imposition of additional commissions is a violation of regulations.

Recall, Donald Trump led to the dollar falling to a three-month low.
