Why the occupiers are attacking energy infrastructure again: ISW assumptions.

Russian troops have attacked Ukrainian energy infrastructure again
According to a study by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian troops are conducting a series of attacks on Ukraine's energy grid with the aim of destroying and limiting the country's defense industrial potential.
Analysts report that on the night of January 14 to 15, Russian troops carried out numerous missile and drone strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure facilities. A total of 74 Shahed drones and other strike UAVs, as well as 43 missiles, were launched.
The Air Force reported that 23 X-101/55SM missiles, three Kalibr missiles, four X-59/69 missiles, and 47 drones were shot down, and 27 drones did not reach their targets.
“Russia regularly conducts attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure with large salvos since the winter of 2022-2023, likely trying to destroy Ukraine's energy grid, limit its defense industrial potential, and weaken the will of Ukrainians to fight,” they reported.
On January 15, Russian troops also attacked the energy infrastructure in Lviv region, resulting in damage to two facilities in Drohobych and Stryi.
Attacks were also recorded on critical infrastructure facilities in Prykarpattia.
The war has already been going on for 1058 days.
