Children Abroad Will Find It Easier to Return to Ukrainian Schools: Conditions.

Children Returning to Ukrainian Schools
Діти за кордоном матимуть спрощений процес поновлення навчання в українських навчальних закладах.

The Parliamentary Committee on Education and Science recommends that the Verkhovna Rada support the idea of recognizing the educational achievements of Ukrainian children abroad. This decision will help develop Ukrainian education beyond the country's borders.

According to information from 'Servant of the People', the initiative was supported by the bill's author and committee chairman Serhiy Babak. He noted that changes need to be made to the Law 'On General Secondary Education', which will provide for the development of regulatory acts for the enrollment of educational results from children who have left the country.

'There is also another problem that is outside legal boundaries. It concerns educational centers established abroad after February 24, which have different statuses,' Babak noted.

There are two types of schools abroad. The first type is officially registered schools recognized by the legislation of the country in which they are located. These educational institutions are known to educational authorities, and Ukraine previously provided them with textbooks.

The second type consists of unofficial educational structures, such as Saturday schools and small community groups engaged in teaching school-aged children.

'Since the onset of Russia's military aggression, a large number of school-aged children have fled Ukraine - from 700,000 to 1 million. Our task is to maintain a connection with these children in Ukraine's educational system, so that they return to us after the conflict is over,' Babak explained.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine recommended that Ukrainian schools consider the performance of children studying abroad due to Russia's military aggression. This concerns subjects that are taught simultaneously in foreign and Ukrainian schools.

To obtain recognition of educational results abroad, it is necessary to present a certificate from the educational institution where the child studied outside Ukraine. It is also provided that students must undergo online assessment and receive a yearly grade in the Ukrainian language, literature, and history of Ukraine.

Conclusion

This decision expands the possibilities of Ukrainian education abroad and will help maintain the connection of Ukrainian schoolchildren with their homeland. Such a step will contribute to strengthening the Ukrainian educational system and preparing the younger generation for future challenges.
