Aid for Syria: A ship with Ukrainian wheat has arrived in Turkey.


The humanitarian ship delivered Ukrainian wheat to Turkey
In the port of Toros in Turkey, a humanitarian ship carrying 20,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat has arrived. This delivery took place as part of the initiative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to support regions suffering from crisis, particularly Syria.
Kemal Yildiz: 'This offloading reflects the collective conscience and humanity’s desire to help those in need.'
The governorship of Samsun ceremoniously welcomed the ship Brave Commander, which is under the flag of Beirut. Representatives from the WFP office in Turkey, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry attended the ceremony.
The importance of humanitarian assistance
Steven Keyhill: 'We welcome Brave Commander - a symbol of international solidarity and rapid humanitarian action...'.
The WFP director in Turkey emphasized that this operation is very important, as Samsun is a key center for humanitarian efforts. 5,000 tons of wheat will be sent to support WFP operations in Syria, where help is urgently needed due to the conflict situation.
Over the last five years, the WFP has procured food worth 1.1 billion dollars in Turkey. Steven Keyhill stressed the importance of partnership with Turkey in supporting Syrian refugees and global humanitarian operations.
