The European Commission announced the strengthening of defense ties with NATO.

The European Union wishes to enhance cooperation with NATO
The European Union (EU) plans to strengthen cooperation with NATO member countries that are not EU members, such as Canada, the United Kingdom, Norway, and the United States (USA). This was reported by the European Commission in response to a request regarding the article 'The Sleeping Giant. Why European Defense is Lagging and How Serious a Problem it is for Ukraine.'
The organization emphasizes the coordination of efforts among various member states. The main goal of the EU is to support member countries in fulfilling their international obligations, including those undertaken before NATO.
To ensure coordination, international exchanges with the NATO International Secretariat are being established. According to the European Commission, enhanced cooperation with NATO in the defense industry is provided through a special structured dialogue that will begin in 2024, in accordance with the European Defense Industrial Strategy.
Defense cooperation between the EU and NATO is developing based on a strategic partnership to enhance security in Europe and the transatlantic region. Both organizations complement each other: NATO provides collective defense and military capabilities, while the EU focuses on crisis management, peacekeeping missions, and the development of the defense industry.
Since the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine in 2022, interaction between the EU and NATO has become closer and more active.
