Hero of Ukraine, legend of the 'Rubizh' brigade. Let us remember Roman Golub.

Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives were taken by the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today, we remember Roman Golub.
On December 30, 2023, Roman Golub, a 26-year-old sapper with the call sign Crafter and a graduate of the Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum No. 21 named after Yevhen Konovalets, was killed. This was reported on the Facebook page of the educational institution.
«Once again, sorrow enveloped our lyceum family. Roman Golub, our graduate, was killed in the war. The teaching and student staff mourn the irreparable loss. Our heartfelt condolences to the family and all the loved ones of the warrior. We share this terrible pain and sorrow with you,» the post says.
Roman Golub was born on February 11, 1997, in Ivano-Frankivsk. He studied at the Ivano-Frankivsk Lyceum No. 21 named after Yevhen Konovalets.
In the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, Roman Golub left Ivano-Frankivsk to defend Kyiv, as reported on the website of the Memory Book of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Subsequently, he joined the third battalion of the 'Svoboda' of the 4th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine 'Rubizh'.
«Crafter is a legend of the 'Rubizh' brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine,» the Memory Book of the Ministry of Internal Affairs states.
Initially, the fighter served as a senior machine gunner, later becoming the commander of an engineering and sapper unit. He participated in battles for Irpin, then Siversk, Zaytseve, and Bakhmut.
«Coming out of the village of Voronove after a fierce battle with a fragment in his hand, he was pulling an NLAW to ensure it wouldn’t fall into the hands of the p***ks. He was a man with a capital letter, a wonderful friend, and an excellent warrior. Friend, you will always remain in our hearts; rest in peace,» wrote his comrade, Maksym Bezpal'ko, about Roman Golub.
During his service, the fighter experienced several injuries and concussions, yet he returned to the front with his comrades after each. During his last rotation, Roman Golub served as a sapper on the front line.
«Nothing could stop his desire to protect his country and friends. Despite his young age, Roman had great respect in the battalion, even from fighters who looked up to him as a father. He was a brave warrior who always went into the heart of the inferno,» states the Memory Book of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On December 30, 2023, National Guardsman Roman Golub fell victim to a Russian sniper's bullet near the village of Spirne in the Bakhmut district. He was 26 years old.
The President of Ukraine posthumously awarded the title of 'Hero of Ukraine' to the fallen serviceman of the 'Svoboda' battalion from Ivano-Frankivsk, Roman Golub, with the call sign Crafter. The corresponding decree was published on the President's website on January 20, 2025.
The Commander-in-Chief joins in a minute of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died fighting for their homeland. We remember those killed by the Russian invaders, light candles in remembrance, and bow our heads in grief during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of Ukrainian citizens who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military personnel, civilians, and children, all who died in the struggle against the Russian occupiers and as a result of the enemy forces' attack on Ukrainian cities and villages.
