Athletics star Yuliya Levchenko won a prestigious award.

Ukrainian high jumpers Yuliya Levchenko and Kateryna Tabashnyk competed at the bronze level tournament of the World Athletics Continental Tour. The competition took place in the Italian city of Brescia.

Important medal for Levchenko

'Suspilne Sport' reported that Levchenko took second place at the tournament.

Eight athletes participated in the competition, with the main favorite being Eleanor Patterson, the bronze medalist of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Yuliya Levchenko was considered one of the main competitors.

Levchenko successfully cleared heights of 1.80 m, 1.84 m, 1.88 m, 1.91 m, and 1.94 m, which allowed her to take first place and secure a podium spot after clearing 1.91 m. Only three participants were able to clear that height: Levchenko on her first attempt, and Zhodzik and Patterson on their second attempts. At the height of 1.94 m, Zhodzik and Patterson made mistakes while Levchenko again impressed with a flawless jump.

The decisive height was 1.97 m, which Patterson cleared on her first attempt, Levchenko on her third, while Zhodzik was unable to make it.

At the mark of 2.00 m, both participants in the final failed to clear it, so the gold went to Patterson due to fewer attempts at the height of 1.97 m.

Kateryna Tabashnyk dropped out of the competition at the starting height of 1.76 m, failing to clear the bar at 1.80 m. As a result, she finished in eighth place.

This is already the third podium for the 27-year-old Levchenko in a row at the Continental Tour after her victory in Warsaw and silver in Brno, where she showed the best result of the season - 1.98 m.

Since the beginning of 2020, Yuliya Levchenko has only jumped 1.97 m or higher three times, and two of those attempts occurred in 2025.

The next major challenge for Levchenko will be the Diamond League stage in London, which will take place on July 19, where she will compete alongside Yaroslava Mahuchikh.

Thus, Ukrainian high jumpers showed high results at the tournament in Brescia, where Levchenko won silver, and Tabashnyk did not reach the final. This season, Levchenko continues to dominate in international competitions, confirming her high sporting skill and desire for victory.
