Greenland is important for US national security - statement by Trump's team.

The autonomous country of Greenland, which is the largest island on Earth and belongs to Denmark, is of great significance for the security of the United States. This was stated by Mike Waltz, who was appointed national security advisor by future US President Donald Trump. Waltz emphasized that Greenland is an important region due to its natural resources, particularly minerals. He also noted that China is interested in the Arctic and is expanding its influence in this region, therefore the US must ensure its control over it. Waltz also expressed concern regarding Russia, which is trying to become the 'king of the Arctic' and has a significant number of icebreakers, including nuclear ones. Previously, Trump did not rule out the possibility of using military or economic force to purchase Greenland.
