Grossi: Restoration of ZNPP operation after the ceasefire will take at least a year.

Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant may be restored in over a year - IAEA

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, stated that full restoration of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant's operation with all six power units may take no less than a year, and possibly even longer. He also noted that a potential restart of the plant could be gradual by bringing one reactor into operation at a Time, but this process will take a lot of time.

Grossi emphasized that bringing all reactors online will be a challenging task, but it is not impossible. He also pointed out that Russia is providing professional management of the occupied plant; however, due to the war, some maintenance works may not have been performed adequately. Full restoration of the Zaporizhzhia NPP will be possible when the fire is stopped, and then larger works will be carried out to enhance the cooling capabilities of the plant.

IAEA believes that a ceasefire and transition to a non-military regime will be important steps forward and will allow the plant to operate in a normal mode.
