Foreigners wishing to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will undergo a psychophysiological examination

According to new rules, foreigners and stateless persons wishing to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, and the National Guard must undergo a psychophysiological examination (polygraph). This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The polygraph test will be mandatory for candidates for officer positions and positions with access to state secrets. In addition, it will also be conducted for candidates who have provided dubious information about themselves.

«The psychophysiological examination with a polygraph will be conducted by the newly established Center for Recruiting Foreigners and Stateless Persons, involving specialists from the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard. The examination will be conducted in the language that the candidate speaks», the report noted.

Foreign servicemen who are already in military service can undergo such a check at the initiative of the Security Service of Ukraine or the command of their unit. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the relevant regulations developed by the Ministry of Defense.

Candidates must give written consent to undergo the examination and be healthy. Refusal may be grounds for denial of military service.

The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been given one month to update the relevant legal acts after this resolution comes into force.

By the way, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed a law allowing foreigners to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in officer positions.

Recall that earlier the parliament adopted the government bill No. 12023 regarding military service under a contract for foreigners and stateless persons in the Armed Forces, the State Special Transport Service, and the National Guard of Ukraine.
