Peter Burke, Irish Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, noted that the improvement of the country's laws will contribute to creating a flexible work permit system and ensuring workers' rights.
According to the new rules, some work permit holders will be able to change employers only after nine months. Additionally, to meet the needs in certain sectors, Ireland is introducing a new seasonal work permit.
Although details on this permit have not yet been disclosed, it will be aimed at individuals who want to work in the country only for a short period of Time, such as berry pickers, who are needed only during the harvest season. This permit will facilitate foreign workers and businesses that need more labor force during certain seasons.
Another change is that work permit holders will be given the opportunity to advance within their position without the need for a new permit.
The new rules will also include requirements for residence and training to support individuals with work permits.
It is worth recalling that the number of Ukrainian refugees living in government-provided housing in Ireland has significantly decreased. Over the year, nearly 17.5 thousand people have left such premises. The government has closed dozens of centers that provided housing to Ukrainians.
