Capital disaster: how many Ukrainian buildings need urgent repair.

Housing and communal services expert Oleg Popenko has stated that the majority of residential buildings in Ukraine are in urgent need of major repairs. He emphasized that out of 140 thousand residential buildings, 120 thousand currently require immediate repair. According to Popenko, an average of $7.5-8 thousand per 50 sq. m. apartment is needed for repairs.
The expert also noted that approximately $70-80 billion is needed for major repairs to buildings. However, most citizens do not have the financial means for this. According to him, only 4-5% of citizens can afford such repairs, while everyone else simply does not have enough money.
Popenko criticizes the government's approach to solving the problem, pointing out that creating OSBBs does not solve the issue of funding for major repairs. He calls for the development of a comprehensive state program that takes into account the real financial capabilities of citizens and the state for renovating the housing stock of Ukraine.
In addition, the expert criticized the reform of OSBBs in Ukraine.
