The editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, was accidentally added to a secret chat of the Trump administration where American officials were planning strikes on Yemeni Houthis. According to 'Glavkom', Goldberg wrote about this in an article published on the publication's website.

Not long before 2 PM Eastern Time on March 15, the world learned that the United States was bombing Houthi targets in Yemen. However, I knew two hours prior to the first bombs exploding that an attack might be imminent. The reason I knew this was that Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, sent me a text message about the war plan at 11:44 AM. The plan contained precise information about weapon packages, targets, and timing,' he wrote.

According to Goldberg, on March 11, he received a request to connect on Signal from user Michael Waltz, a U.S. national security advisor.

The editor-in-chief speculated that it might be a fake account: 'I accepted the connection request, hoping that it was a real national security advisor and that he wanted to talk about Ukraine, or Iran, or some other important issue. Two days later - on Thursday - at 4:28 PM, I received a notification that I was to be added to a Signal chat group. It was called 'Small Group Houthi PC'.

Goldberg revealed that in a message to the group, Michael Waltz stated that this chat was created 'for coordination regarding the Houthis, especially over the next 72 hours.' He also informed about certain meetings taking place at the deputy chief of staff level.

The editor-in-chief of The Atlantic noted that among the participants were U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and other high-ranking officials of the Trump administration.

Recall that U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States had begun large-scale military strikes on dozens of targets in Yemen. This operation is aimed not only against Houthi militants but also serves as a powerful signal to Iran regarding the nuclear deal. This is reported by 'Glavkom' referencing The New York Times.

On the White House's page, they wrote: 'President Trump is taking action against the Houthis to protect U.S. maritime assets and prevent terrorist threats. For too long, America's economic and national security have been under attack from the Houthis.'

Large-scale military strikes on Houthis in Yemen

According to The New York Times, U.S. air and sea attacks were targeting radars, air defense systems, missile and drone complexes. The main goal is to ensure the safety of international shipping in the Red Sea, which the Houthis have blocked for months with their attacks.
