Markarova commented on calls for elections in Ukraine in 2025.

Ukraine's ambassador to the USA, Oksana Markarova, stated that Ukraine is ready to consider the issue of holding elections by the end of 2025 if hostilities cease. She noted that official negotiations with the USA have not yet taken place, but the Ukrainian side believes that ensuring full access to voting and candidacy in conditions of military conflict is impossible.
The special representative of American President Trump on Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, expressed a desire to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine by the end of the current year if a ceasefire agreement with Russia is reached.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has already stated that holding elections during martial law contradicts the Constitution and laws of the country. However, after the active phase of the conflict ends, Parliament will have the opportunity to lift martial law and set a date for the elections.
