Scale Mine Clearance: Military Sappers Cleared Over 252,000 Hectares.


In 2024, the mine clearance units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine have already cleared 252,823.23 hectares of territory from explosive items, of which 232,105.76 hectares are agricultural lands.
According to the data from the Ministry of Defense, specialists have also carried out mine clearance of the following facilities:
- 538.64 km of highways;
- 163.26 km of power lines;
- 444.94 km of railways;
- 52.41 km of pipelines;
- 178.49 hectares of residential areas;
- 37 hectares of water areas.
During the year, sappers identified and neutralized 137,821 dangerous items. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia, 416,877 units of ammunition have been neutralized.
In 2024, 48 new operators received licenses for mine clearance, so the total number of certified organizations has increased to 72. These organizations have the right to carry out humanitarian mine clearance in areas where active hostilities are not taking place.
According to the Main Office of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service are involved in clearing the liberated territories from explosive items.
