National Guard commented on awarding the Odessa mayor Trukhanov with a medal.

The National Guard reported that it did not award the mayor of Odessa, Gennadiy Trukhanov. A relevant post appeared on the National Guard's Facebook page.
The press service of the National Guard noted that the awarding of Odessa’s mayor with the medal "For devotion to the Ukrainian people" by the "Spartan" brigade is not an official or state decoration. It is an initiative of certain individuals from the brigade.
Previously, the mayor of Odessa received an award from the former commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol - a badge "For service and valor". Trukhanov expressed a great honor in receiving this award.
However, the awarding of Trukhanov was condemned on social networks. Veteran of the war with Russia and public activist Oleg Symoroz considers his awarding "a disgrace, a shame, and a mockery of the military".
Later, the mayor himself stated that he did not know about the award, which Yuriy Sodol was supposed to present to him.
