US Senate Speaker Marco Rubio announced that negotiations between the US and Russia regarding the war in Ukraine will occur in the coming days. The meeting will take place in Saudi Arabia.

According to Reuters, the negotiations will be led by Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Steve Witcoff, the special envoy of the White House to the Middle East. The Russian side has not yet been named.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine was not invited to the negotiations in Saudi Arabia. He also emphasized that Kyiv does not engage in dialogue with Russia without consultations with strategic partners.

Congressman Michael McCaul noted that these negotiations aim to organize a meeting between US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Volodymyr Zelensky to achieve peace and end the conflict.

Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump, who began his presidential term on January 20, made promises to swiftly end the war in Ukraine. His phone calls with Putin and Zelensky that took place on Wednesday raised concerns among US allies in Europe about their potential exclusion from the peace process.
