The first floating solar power station has appeared in China.

China has launched the largest floating solar power station. CHN Energy has connected the first batch of solar panels at the 1 GW offshore power station in Shandong province. The project uses over two thousand panels that generate 1.78 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. The system covers an area of 1223 hectares and includes underwater and ground cables.
CHN Energy claims that this floating power station is the largest of its kind. They hope that this project will serve as an example for other offshore solar power stations.
Furthermore, CHN Energy plans to collaborate with a fish farm for more efficient use of the marine area. According to Power Technology, this project will save 503,800 tons of coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.344 million tons.
