UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy plans to meet with European colleagues to discuss support for Ukraine and strengthen regional defense cooperation ahead of Prime Minister Keir Starmer's summit with European Union leaders next week.

According to the UK Foreign Office, Lammy will conduct negotiations with representatives from France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Poland, and the EU. 'We are experiencing a unique moment for the collective security of our continent,' noted Lammy, adding that the challenge facing Europe is critical to the entire country.

During the meeting, the minister is expected to announce additional sanctions against entities that support the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Last Saturday, leaders from several countries visited Kyiv to support Ukraine's call for a 30-day ceasefire, which was also backed by US President Donald Trump. If the demands are not met, there were promises of imposing new large-scale sanctions, and dialogue about direct negotiations was underway.

Lammy intends to use the meeting to promote the establishment of European security and strong trade relations between the UK and the European Union following the country's exit from the EU. Starmer also plans to sign a new defense agreement with the EU and enhance trade links.
