Former head of the International Handball Federation has died

On March 29, at the age of 94, the former head of the International Handball Federation (IHF) Erwin Lanz passed away. This was reported by 'Glavcom' referring to IHF.

Lanz led the Austrian Handball Federation from 1977 to 1995 and the IHF from 1984 to 2000. He was also the honorary president of both organizations.

Lanz was also involved in politics, serving as a member of the Vienna City Council and as Austria's Minister of Transport, Internal and Foreign Affairs.

As the president, he tirelessly worked for the benefit of handball and did everything possible to make the sport more known and popular. I express my sincerest condolences on behalf of the International Handball Federation. His leadership, dedication, and passion for handball were magnificent, and his loss is felt not only by the IHF but by the entire global handball community

It should be noted that at the age of 68, the father of eight-Time Olympic champion Usain Bolt, Wellesley Bolt, passed away.

He was the father of a world icon and a strong, quiet force behind one of Jamaica's greatest sons. His presence, support, and guidance helped shape a legacy that continues to inspire the world

Previously, Wellesley along with his wife Jennifer Bolt ran a small grocery store in Jamaica. The couple often attended competitions in which Usain Bolt participated.

Japanese Olympic champion Akinori Nakayama has died

At the age of 83, six-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics, Japanese Akinori Nakayama passed away. The cause of death was stomach cancer.

Nakayama won four gold medals at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City (rings, pommel horse, parallel bars, team all-around). He won two more Olympic gold medals in 1972 in Munich (rings, team). Additionally, he has two silvers and two bronzes at the Olympics.

Nakayama also won 12 medals at world championships, including seven golds. An exercise element on rings is named after him - the Nakayama swing maneuver.

In 2005, Nakayama was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
