Over 1000 musicians released an album without sound. They explained their protest.

More than a thousand musicians, including Damon Albarn, Annie Lennox, and Kate Bush, have protested against the British government's plans to allow developers of artificial intelligence to use copyrighted works. Their joint album without sound aims to warn about the possible consequences of such amendments to copyright law. According to the BBC, this album titled 'This is what we want?' consists of 12 tracks lasting 47 minutes. These are recordings of silence or noise from venues and studios. The bill under consideration by the UK government gives companies developing artificial intelligence the ability to use works without the permission of rights holders. Critics of the bill argue that these amendments violate the rights of creators and deprive them of control over their works.
The UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology supports the bill but also notes that discussions with all stakeholders are ongoing. Overall, musicians want to avoid potential issues that may arise if artificial intelligence has access to their creativity.
The smartest artificial intelligence on Earth
Meanwhile, Elon Musk's startup has presented an updated version of its chatbot Grok, which he believes is 'the smartest artificial intelligence on Earth.' It has outperformed other advanced models in certain tasks, such as GPT-4o, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Gemini-2 Pro, and DeepSeek-V3. OpenAI, the company that created the ChatGPT chatbot, also plans to develop its own chip for artificial intelligence technologies by 2025.
