Return of Captive Defenders, Zelensky's Visit to Poland. Main Highlights from January 15.


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Poland, where he held meetings with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda. During the negotiations, issues concerning arms supply, sanctions against Russia, working within the EU Council, as well as cooperation in defense and policy were discussed.
Poland also announced its readiness to provide Ukraine with a new package of military assistance, which includes various combat and reconnaissance technical means, as well as military equipment and supplies.
Ukraine and Russia conducted a prisoner exchange with the support of the United Arab Emirates. As part of this exchange, 25 Ukrainian defenders, who were in captivity, were returned home. They will receive necessary treatment and rehabilitation.
The Verkhovna Rada supported the declaration of martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine for another 90 days. This decision was made to ensure the security and defense capability of the country.
Russia carried out a massive shelling of Ukraine, including gas infrastructure and energy facilities. Joint efforts are necessary to protect and restore the affected facilities.
