Donations from German organizations to Ukraine have decreased 25 times.

The volume of donations received from citizens of Germany to Ukraine has decreased 25 times over the past two years, reported the ARD television channel, citing data from the Aktion Deutschland Hilft association.
According to the union, which includes more than 20 non-profit organizations, only €10 million has been donated this year during an incomplete 12-month period. In the first year after the full-scale invasion, citizens of Germany directed assistance to Ukraine through Aktion Deutschland Hilft amounting to over €250 million.
Managing Director of Aktion Deutschland Hilft Thilo Reichenbach noted that the decrease in donations is related to many crises both worldwide and in Germany.
'This is also related to economic uncertainty and fears about the future. As a result, people are becoming more self-absorbed and focused only on their personal lives,' he added.
The Katastrophenhilfe organization in Berlin stated that the overall willingness to donate to help Ukraine significantly decreased in 2024. 'Even fundraising and calls for donations before Christmas are unlikely to radically change this trend,' the organization noted.
The head of the Kinderhilfe Ukraine Rhein-Neckar association from Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Valentina Sobetska, also highlighted the decrease in the willingness of German citizens to direct funds to support Ukrainians.
'We are seeing a significant reduction in donations. People are tired. However, there are other reasons. Firstly, many other aid organizations have been created now. Secondly, life has become more expensive due to inflation,' she concluded.
It is worth noting that almost every third euro from all unemployment benefits in Germany goes to foreigners. Spending on refugees and migrants in Germany is rapidly increasing. In 2020, €5.9 billion was allocated to support mainly refugees and migrants, and by 2021 this amount had reached €12.2 billion - over a quarter of all unemployment assistance expenditures (€42.6 billion).
