Putin Listens': Trump Declares Deadline After War in Ukraine.

Trump: There is a deadline for achieving peace in Ukraine
US President Donald Trump stated that he has set his own deadline for achieving a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia and called on both sides to start negotiations. He is confident that Russian President Vladimir Putin is listening to his calls to stop the attacks on Ukraine.
'I have my own deadline. And we want it to happen quickly. And the Prime Minister is helping us. He wants it to happen. So we have a deadline, and after it expires, the attitude will be completely different. But I am confident that this has a good chance of being done,' Trump told reporters during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Norway.
When asked whether he believes Putin is listening to his calls to stop the attacks on Ukraine, Trump answered affirmatively: 'Yes, I think so.'
The American president emphasized the necessity of direct negotiations between the conflicting parties. 'We are very confident that both sides want peace, but they need to sit down at the negotiation table... I am confident that we will achieve peace... We are losing about 5000 young people weekly in this senseless war,' Trump noted.
The head of the White House also expressed concern about the duration of the conflict. 'I don’t really like that it is taking so long. I am confident that both sides want to make peace. I really believe so. There is a lot of hatred, a lot of blood, a lot of distrust, but I am confident that we will achieve this for the sake of saving people,' the US president concluded.
On April 24, Donald Trump sharply criticized the Russian strikes on Kyiv. In his profile on the social network Truth Social, he wrote: 'I am dissatisfied with the Russian strikes on Kyiv. This is completely unnecessary and extremely untimely. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers are dying weekly. Let’s conclude a peace agreement!'
The statement came in the context of efforts by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to promote a ceasefire initiative. During his visit to South Africa, the Ukrainian leader emphasized the importance of reliable security guarantees regardless of the outcome of hostilities and noted that relevant US initiatives are 'on President Trump's table.'
