Market prices are inevitable: expert explained why Ukrainians face rising electricity tariffs.

Director of the Energy Research Center, Oleksandr Kharchenko, reported that electricity tariffs in Ukraine are increasing. He asserts that this is a necessary step to ensure real market prices and stability in the energy sector. At the same Time, he notes that Ukrainian consumers currently pay too low prices for energy resources.
Kharchenko proposes implementing a system of targeted subsidies to help people with low income, while other consumers should pay the full market price. He also emphasizes the importance of competition among energy suppliers, which will allow consumers to choose the best tariff plans.
The necessity of market tariffs
According to Kharchenko, changing tariffs is necessary to bring prices for energy resources to a real market level that corresponds to modern conditions. At the same time, he points out the need for social protection of vulnerable groups in the population.
Kharchenko stresses the importance of introducing targeted subsidies that would support those in need. This would contribute to social justice, as only those who can afford to pay will pay for energy resources at market prices.
Competition in the market
The introduction of market tariffs will also open up opportunities for competition among energy suppliers. Consumers will be able to choose tariffs that best meet their needs. This competition will promote the establishment of optimal prices and reduce the financial burden on consumers.
Necessary changes
Kharchenko emphasizes that changes in the tariff system are necessary for the effective functioning of the energy sector. To ensure energy security and fair resource distribution, it is necessary to abandon the post-Soviet approach to pricing.
Earlier, Ukrainians were warned about a catastrophic situation with water supply.
