Russians are conserving equipment on the front: ISW names the reason.

Russians have economized equipment on the front due to high losses. This was reported by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
In recent weeks, Russian troops have used less armored equipment in attacks on active sections of the front. Analysts suggest that the Russians are trying to conserve their remaining equipment due to dwindling Soviet supplies.
According to Ukrainian military data, the occupiers have mainly switched to using infantry for attacks in the Kurakhove direction in recent weeks. They use armored vehicles mainly for fire support for infantry. In attacks in eastern Ukraine, Russian troops are increasingly using electric scooters, motorcycles, and all-terrain vehicles to compensate for equipment losses.
Analysts note that larger cities, such as Kurakhove and Pokrovsk, may be less favorable for mechanized attacks compared to smaller settlements and open fields where Russian troops had advanced earlier. Difficulties in re-equipping Russian troops are another reason.
Sources indicate that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed or damaged over 3000 Russian tanks and more than 9000 units of armored equipment in 2024. In the future, Russia will not be able to cover these losses.
As of December, Russian troops have 47% of their pre-war tank stocks, 52% of infantry fighting vehicles, and 45% of armored personnel carriers. Analysts note that maintaining the current annual loss rate of nearly 9000 units of armored equipment until 2025 is becoming increasingly difficult for Russia.
The ISW report indicates that the likelihood of Russia being able to restore its equipment by 2025 or even 2026 is diminishing. This level of losses is almost three times higher than the annual loss rate during the first two years of the war.
Recently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine opened fire in several directions in the Kursk region.
