Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia does not support the idea of a truce in the conflict with Ukraine. According to him, agreements are necessary to address the main issues of the conflict, including security in Europe, NATO expansion, and people's rights to self-determination. Lavrov emphasized that Russia has no illusions about a truce in 2025 and stressed that the conflict can only be resolved through agreements that take into account the interests of all countries. He also stated that Russia is ready for negotiations if it receives serious proposals that consider national interests.
Russia claims that negotiations with Ukraine should be based on the conditions laid out in Istanbul and refuses to compromise. The government also accused Ukraine of violating agreements and warned of the possibility of territorial losses. Sergey Lavrov recalled three agreements that, in his opinion, were violated by Kyiv.
