Size of Land Shares: Average Indicators in Ukraine.

The open land market began operating in Ukraine on July 1, 2021
Since July 1, 2021, an open land market has been operating in Ukraine, where many contracts for the sale of land have already been concluded. It is noted that the size of land shares is variable and depends on various factors.
Many owners of land shares in Ukraine
At the beginning of 2017, there were 6.9 million owners of land shares in Ukraine, who collectively owned 27.7 million hectares of agricultural land. This accounts for 89% of private land in the country, and the average size of a share is 4 hectares, but it varies across different regions.
'79% of share owners are over 50 years old, and 43% are over 60 years old,' it was reported.
The possibility of selling the land plot after the liquidation of collective agricultural enterprises
Since July 1, 2021, it has been possible to sell land plots that previously belonged to individuals after the liquidation of collective agricultural enterprises. Individuals who own land plots can sell them to other individuals or Ukrainian legal entities.
The process of obtaining land shares
Throughout the history of land shares, before they were allocated to owners, it was necessary to determine the size of each shareholder from the pool of land in collective ownership of the collective farm. Then former members of the collective farm received certificates of ownership of a land share, which indicated the area of land that the owner had the right to possess.
The sale of shares is not provided for in the new land legislation. Therefore, an owner wishing to sell a share must formalize it as a separate land plot.
