How many civilians has Russia killed in Ukraine since 2022: data from human rights defenders.

Report: over 12 thousand civilians killed in the military conflict in Eastern Ukraine
According to the report by the international human rights organization Human Rights Watch, from February 2022 to November 2024, 12,162 civilians were killed and 26,919 injured in Ukraine. Many Ukrainians fled and remained abroad, while millions became internally displaced persons.
«During 2024, tens of thousands of people fled from frontline cities in Kharkiv and Donetsk regions to other regions of the country due to the ongoing military offensive by Russia,» reports Human Rights Watch.
According to the report, as of July 2024, Russia unlawfully detained more than 14 thousand Ukrainian civilians. The organization states that Russian troops often attacked densely populated areas, leading to destruction and suffering across Ukraine. Most civilian casualties were due to the use of large-scale weaponry, which also caused damage to residential buildings, hospitals, schools, cultural heritage sites, and other civilian infrastructure.
Today marks the 1061st day of the full-scale war. The heaviest fighting is taking place in the Pokrovsk direction. Russian terrorists often attack this direction, launching missile and air strikes, using a large number of bombs and kamikaze drones. In total, 176 combat clashes were recorded in the past day. Ukrainian military continues to effectively restrain the enemy and inflict significant losses on them.
