Tariffs, pensions, subsidies: what will change with the start of the heating season in October.

With the transition to autumn, Ukrainians expect changes in the social sphere and public utilities. This October will bring a number of important innovations that will affect many people. From pension recalculations to changes in electricity tariffs, these changes will impact the daily lives of citizens.
This is reported by 'Khvylia'.
Subsidies for the heating season
The heating season will officially begin on October 1 and will last until April 30. Citizens who received 'summer' subsidies or used housing and communal services benefits will automatically receive winter subsidies. Others are advised to contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) by November 30, 2024, to receive a subsidy from October of the current year.
Changes in electricity tariffs
From October 1, the cost of electricity for household consumers will be 4.32 UAH/kWh. However, for those who use electric heating, preferential terms are provided.
The reduced tariff of 2.64 UAH/kWh will be in effect from October 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025, but only if consumption does not exceed 2000 kWh per month and officially registered electric heating is available. To obtain the preferential tariff, you should contact your local electricity distribution system operator.
Pension increases
General increases or growth in pension payments are not expected. However, age-related surcharges will automatically be added to pensions:
- 300 UAH for persons aged 70
- 456 UAH for persons aged 75
- 570 UAH for persons aged 80
Additionally, pensioners who continued to work after reaching retirement age but have now resigned can contact PFU citizen service centers for an individual pension recalculation.
