Trump hindered agronomists in Khmelnytskyi region from developing a mill.

A young couple, Mykolaychuks from Khmelnytskyi region, bought an old mill in the village of Voronkovtsi near Starokostyantyniv. They started producing stone-ground flour and plan to develop their business and improve the rural area. However, their plans were compromised by US President Donald Trump. This was reported by 'Hlavkom', citing 'Suspilne'.
'When we bought the mill, we were given a set of keys. Gradually, we began to understand which keys correspond to what,' says miller Vadym Mykolaychuk.
The couple, who work as agronomists, bought the mill in Voronkovtsi, which belonged to the Starokostyantyniv community. Its history dates back to 1865.
Local residents reported that the mill once operated on water energy. The modern mill, like its predecessor, uses millstones, but it is now powered by electricity. It produces three types of flour from whole grains.
'This is a modern stone mill, manufactured in Zhytomyr. It can produce about 20 kilograms of flour per hour. The production occurs at a lower temperature than using the roller method. This helps retain more proteins and carbohydrates,' says Victoria.
According to her, since the production is in the launch phase, many cereals are still being tested.
'It is very difficult to find rye, spelt, or barley, which are necessary for producing the corresponding flour. We are looking for markets through Instagram, among bakers. We already have a partner, a baker from Lviv, who is interested in our story and even makes bread with our logo,' Victoria says.
According to the plan, this spring, the millers were supposed to open their own bakery.
'We participated in the project for young entrepreneurs called 'Lift'. We were supposed to receive funding to open a bakery, but because the USAID fund ceased its operations in Ukraine, the project was suspended. And now President Trump has dashed our plans for development, as well as the development of our area,' says Vadym Mykolaychuk.
Victoria mentions that the development of the area, which is constantly attacked by Russian drones, is not an easy task.
'Today we arrived at the field and saw such a picture: after yesterday's attack, there were remains of Shahids and drones, and in the summer, there were craters in the field. When I worked as an agronomist, I traveled around villages and saw how they are dying. I wanted to develop this area. And that is when we came across this mill on OLX,' Victoria recalls.
According to the young millers, the three-story brick mill cost them about the price of a new car. They plan to restore the historical value of the building and make the mill and its surroundings by the Sluche River attractive for tourists.
It should be noted that on February 3, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to halt aid to other countries. This led to the furlough of USAID employees due to their refusal to provide confidential data to representatives of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
According to reports, the main initiator of the liquidation of USAID is entrepreneur Elon Musk, who heads DOGE. He convinced Trump to stop the agency's operations.
On the same day, USAID employees in Washington were instructed to stay home, as the agency's headquarters was closed. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that he is performing the duties of the USAID director.
By the end, it was known that after the liquidation of USAID, fewer than 300 employees would remain there. The head of the new Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk, called USAID a criminal organization.
Trump's decision to liquidate USAID and halt aid to other countries has caused outrage among the American public. The two largest trade union organizations filed a lawsuit against Trump's administration, accusing him of illegal actions.
