Tourists from Europe cancel their trips to the USA due to Trump's actions.

Some tourists from European Union countries, including Germany and Denmark, are reluctant to travel to the USA due to the actions and policies of US President Donald Trump.
According to the publication, among the factors influencing tourists' decision not to visit the USA are the denial by the White House chief of the viability of the US-Europe alliance, the proposal to annex Greenland, participation in a global trade war, and the tightening of border and visa policies, as well as the persecution of illegal migrants.
According to the EU, in 2023, Europeans spent $155 billion on trips to the USA. According to the US Travel Association, foreign tourists spend seven to eight times more than Americans traveling within the US. Preliminary information from the US National Travel and Tourism Office indicates that the number of travelers from Western Europe to the USA decreased by 1% in February compared to the same period in 2024, when there was a 14% increase. Swiss, Belgians, and Slovenians also made the list of those who canceled their trips across the ocean, decreasing by 26%.
Denmark strongly reacted to Trump's rhetoric regarding Greenland, a self-governing territory of Denmark. In February, the number of Danish citizens visiting the USA decreased by 6% compared to the same period last year, when there was a 7% increase. In particular, a Danish tourist, Kim Sorensen, canceled his trip to California for a family friend's wedding and changed his appearance by removing his tattoos to avoid looking pro-American.
The number of inquiries about flights to the USA has decreased in France, Italy, and Spain. The German travel agency America Unlimited (AU) reported that Germans are turning their attention to Canada as an alternative. Trump's threats to turn Canada into the 51st state of the USA are prompting some Europeans to consider visiting the country in solidarity. The tourism boom in Canada was noted by AU CEO Timo Kohlenberg.
In the summer, Canadians may travel to Europe as they avoid trips to the USA. According to Key Data, bookings by Canadians in Europe increased by 32% from June to August compared to last year.
Recall that several European countries have issued recommendations for their citizens planning trips to the United States. The official Ottawa has also issued tips for Canadians regarding travel to the USA.
