In Britain, babies were switched in the hospital: families found out about it half a century later.

In a hospital in Great Britain in 1967, a mistake occurred when two newborn girls were switched. The family found out about this mistake only 55 years later thanks to a DNA test. This was reported by the BBC.
The women, who were swapped in the hospital, are now awaiting compensation from the British National Health Service.
In 2021, a Briton named Tony took a DNA test, which he received as a Christmas gift. As a result, it turned out that his sister, whom he had considered his brother all his life, is a stranger named Claire.
After exchanging letters, Tony realized that Claire was born in the same hospital as his "sister" Jessica. Therefore, he concluded that they were mistakenly switched at birth.
Claire felt like a stranger in the family because she did not resemble her relatives, whom she had considered her family for 55 years.
Later, Claire met her real mother and brother. It turned out that their relatives lived near the road that the woman drove on daily to work.
Tony turned to the national medical service of Great Britain and provided the DNA test results. The medical service acknowledged that there was a mistake by medical workers, due to which the newborns were mistakenly given to the wrong families.
Currently, the service is working on determining the amount of compensation to be paid to the families.
