A scandal is brewing online around the scientific supervisor of Usyk's dissertation.

Former associate professor of Sumy State University Oleg Smirnov reported that the scientific supervisor of Alexander Usyk's dissertation was an opponent in 23 dissertations that contained plagiarism. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.

The site Rayon.Kivertsi reports that Alexander Myzychuk was born on September 23, 1973, in the city of Kivertsi (Volyn region).
He received a legal education, worked in law enforcement, and made a significant contribution to the development of administrative law. Today, he is a well-known scientist, author of numerous studies, and the scientific supervisor of many dissertations.
In August 1994, Myzychuk entered the Kharkiv Institute of Internal Affairs at the Faculty of Law. In 1998, he graduated from the university and received a complete higher education in the field of jurisprudence. Since 1994, he has worked in law enforcement agencies, initially in the militia, then in the police, holding the rank of police colonel.
Since 1998, he has been working at KHNUPS in various positions, including lecturer and leading researcher. Since 2011, he became the head of Faculty No. 1 and from 2023 the vice-rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.
He is the head of the scientific school 'On the problems of controlling the activities of law enforcement agencies in Ukraine' and has supported 10 doctoral and 45 candidate dissertations.
Earlier, Smirnov claimed that Usyk's dissertation contains references to unknown sources and may indicate signs of forgery.
It should be reminded that Alexander Usyk received a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 'Law'. He defended his dissertation at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs (KHNUPS).
The topic of Usyk's dissertation was 'Administrative and legal support for international cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports'.
Since October 2021, the boxer has been studying in the department of postgraduate and doctoral studies at KHNUPS.
