Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval reported that this year, early grains were harvested in Ukraine 2% less than last year, and the shortfall in the target harvest of late crops in some places is 15%.
"We received approximately 2% fewer early grains compared to last year's harvest. This group did not suffer as much as the sowing of late crops. The most affected were soy, buckwheat, corn, sunflower. Their shortfall in the target harvest is about 10-15%, depending on the region," the minister noted in an interview with Forbes.
According to him, the reduction in yield does not have a critical impact on the country's food security. According to preliminary estimates, the corn yield will be 25 million tons, sunflower - 12 million tons, and soy - 5 million tons.
Koval noted that the structure of crops will remain at last year's level in the new season.
The minister forecasts that around 5 million hectares of winter crops will be sown for the 2025 harvest.
