The Polish Ministry of Defense commented on the relocation of the US base and what will happen with the mission to support Ukraine.


The Polish Ministry of Defense published information refuting previous news about the withdrawal of American troops from Poland. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak stated that the relocation of units was planned earlier, but American troops remain in the country. They will be stationed at other bases in Poland. From now on, greater responsibility for the mission in Jasionka will be taken on by other allies, including Norwegian, German, British, and Polish forces. The decision on relocation was made at the NATO summit in July 2024.
Blaszczak also confirmed that without Poland, it would be impossible to provide assistance to Ukraine, as most transports of humanitarian and military aid pass through this country.
The US Army command announced the planned relocation of American personnel and military equipment from the airfield in Jasionka to other locations in Poland. This decision is part of the strategy to optimize American military operations and improve support for allies and partners by increasing efficiency.
The presence of American troops in Poland is part of NATO's strategy to strengthen the eastern flank of the alliance and ensure security in the region.
