In Poland, 20 thousand Ukrainian children have lost their benefits: the reason has been named.

Ukrainian families have had their social benefits suspended due to changes in Polish legislation. Approximately 20 thousand children from Ukraine have lost their right to a monthly allowance of 800 zlotys starting from September 1, 2024, as they refused to attend Polish schools. This is reported by the information channel inPoland.
The new legislation in Poland ties educational integration to social support. The '800+' program, which previously provided financial assistance to families for child-rearing expenses, is now only available to those studying in the Polish education system.
'State aid should be used for children who actively participate in the Polish educational system,' emphasize representatives of the Polish authorities.
Parents can restore social benefits by enrolling their child in a Polish school and providing the necessary documents to the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS). After confirming enrollment in the educational institution, payments can be resumed.
The decision has triggered various reactions in the Ukrainian community. Many parents are concerned about preserving their children's cultural identity, who have been studying remotely in Ukrainian schools. However, economic conditions force many families to adapt to new requirements.
Experts note that such changes are part of the Polish government's strategy for the integration of Ukrainian refugees. However, this creates additional challenges for families facing a difficult choice between maintaining financial support and continuing education in the Ukrainian education system.
Earlier, Poland expanded the social support program for Ukrainians with disabilities.
