In Poltava, a 71-year-old woman collected a pile of garbage as high as her own house.

Tetyana Prychodko, who lives at 55 Nezalezhnosti Street, has faced the problem of accumulating garbage for 25 years. In her yard, a large pile of garbage has formed that already exceeds the size of the house. The woman has to climb over this mountain of garbage to get to her door. This was reported by 'Hlavkom' citing a story from 'Suspilne'.
The woman has no electricity, gas, water, or heating in her house. She has to take these things out to create at least basic living conditions.
«How can I keep warm when I have nothing? It was cold, I covered myself and lay down. It was cold - I threw on another blanket. Today it was very cold. People sleep in garages under two blankets, under rags. That's how I cover myself and sleep. I lost my job. What I need, I took. That's how I survive,» Tetyana Prychodko said.
In early 2021, utility services removed 24 trucks of garbage from the woman's yard after neighbors complained. However, the house is private, and the land belongs to the city.
An unpleasant smell emanates from the garbage, and rats have also appeared, local residents report.
«I live at 59/2 Nezalezhnosti Street, and we are asking to clean up the garbage. There is a smell, rats are jumping, mice. It's very unpleasant,» local resident Nataliya Poharceva says.
«I even bought poison. Everyone has rats. I am not afraid of rats because I cover myself, and they do not touch me,» Tetyana Prychodko noted.
It is still unknown whether the utility services will remove the garbage again.
«No requests regarding this address have been received by the Housing and Utility Management. If requests are received, the authorized body will consider the possibility of this,» said Marina Serova, head of the press service of the Poltava City Council.
It is recalled that a plot of land on Trukhaniv Island was turned into a garbage dump. Officials responsible for the construction of the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge crossing will be prosecuted for this. Prosecutors from the Podil District Prosecutor's Office filed charges against officials of the general contractor for pollution of land with waste and construction debris.
In addition, in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region, during cleaning the apartment from garbage under a large mountain of garbage, utility workers found an 86-year-old owner of the apartment. Neighbors had not seen her for several days. The head of the homeowners association, Lyudmila Shyshkina, stated that there was a water leak in the apartment, and to solve this problem, it was necessary to clear the premises of garbage.
