Recently, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin discussed the possibility of holding hockey matches between players from both countries. Moscow reported that Trump supports Putin's idea and agreed to maintain contact on all issues that were discussed during the conversation, including the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. The National Hockey League condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine and called for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. They ceased cooperation with Russian business partners and stopped considering Russia as a venue for their events. They also expressed concern about Russian players competing in the NHL.
