In Russia, they propose to hold a game between NHL and KHL players in occupied Donetsk.

Oleksandr Voloshyn, who is a representative of the 'Donetsk People's Republic' in the role of 'senator', proposed to hold one of the possible matches between Russian and American players of the KHL and NHL hockey leagues in the city of Donetsk. He claims that there are suitable venues for this in the occupied city. The idea of holding such a match, proposed by the presidents of Russia and the USA, is a global event. Voloshyn emphasizes that hockey has the ability to unite even irreconcilable enemies, recalling the legendary Super Series that took place during the 'Cold War'. He believes that holding a match in Donetsk would be a wonderful and fair idea. Recently, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin discussed the possibility of holding hockey matches between players from both countries. Moscow reported that Trump supports Putin's idea and agreed to maintain contact on all issues that were discussed during the conversation, including the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. The National Hockey League condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine and called for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. They ceased cooperation with Russian business partners and stopped considering Russia as a venue for their events. They also expressed concern about Russian players competing in the NHL.
The conversation between Trump and Putin, which discussed the possibility of organizing hockey matches, did not yield significant results. The only progress was Putin's agreement to a ceasefire in the energy infrastructure and his positive reaction to the proposal for a ceasefire in the Black Sea.
