Today, March 21, it became known about the death of a young man who was injured during the roof collapse at the railway station in the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. This tragedy occurred on November 1 last year and became the 16th death among those injured during the disaster. Additionally, another person has died, and another remains in the hospital. Medical professionals reported that the young man died from severe injuries and their consequences.
The railway station in Novi Sad was opened in July 2024 after reconstruction carried out by a Chinese contractor. However, at the Time of the collapse, construction work remained unfinished. This led to the collapse of part of the external roof, which was the cause of the tragedy. As a result, massive protests have begun across Serbia, during which participants accused the government of corruption and negligence. Protests are ongoing, and the country's parliament has already been forced to dismiss the government of Miloš Vučević.
Protest participants demand punishment for President Aleksandar Vučić, who is trying to prevent the unfolding of a similar 'Ukrainian Maidan' and states that 'a copy of Maidan will not happen.'
