Starting from September 2025, in addition to primary school, students in grades 5-11 in frontline and border regions will also receive free meals. And from September 2026, this program will extend to grades 5-6 in all regions of Ukraine.

Creating a safe educational environment for students

The Ministry of Education and Science aims to create a safe educational environment for students. The expansion of the program will help an even larger number of students receive healthy meals for free in schools, - said Andrii Stashkiv, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Solving problems in the infrastructure of canteens and food blocks

In addition, the implementation of the program also requires resolving major issues in the infrastructure of canteens and food blocks in educational institutions. This includes updating school canteens, modernizing food blocks, creating training programs to enhance the qualifications of cooks, developing a motivational model to attract specialists to the school nutrition field, and ensuring food quality control.

The successful implementation of this reform depends on cooperation with the School Nutrition Reform Team, which provides expert support and consultations at all stages of implementation.

Improving the health and happiness of Ukrainian children
