According to sources, the United States is offering Ukraine to transfer half of the future revenues from a significant portion of the Ukrainian economy as compensation for the assistance provided by the previous administration of President Biden.
Ukraine does not consider this assistance a debt and proposes to attract more American investments in profit distribution. Concerns are also expressed in Kyiv that granting excessive privileges to the U.S. may become an obstacle on the path to the EU.
It is also worth mentioning that Ukraine is investigating the leak of the mineral agreement with the U.S., and officials will be subject to polygraph testing.
Analysis:
The visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the U.S. for negotiations regarding the mineral resources agreement is an important step in the development of cooperation between the countries. Ukraine is trying to attract more investments while avoiding negative consequences for its path toward the European Union. The results of these negotiations will determine the future cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. in the field of mineral resources.
