A Defector from Ukraine Nearly Frozen to Death in the Romanian Mountains.

A 28-year-old Ukrainian, Vladyslav Duda, was rescued in Romania after falling into a mountain gorge. This was reported by the Associated Press.
According to the publication, initially, they planned to get the Ukrainian out of the gorge using a helicopter. However, due to difficult weather conditions, those plans had to be abandoned. Thus, Romanian rescuers reached him on foot through deep snow at temperatures of up to minus 10 degrees Celsius.
When rescuers found the man, it turned out that he had a kitten named Persik under his jacket.
The cat was warm and warmed him up, so it saved his life.
He also recalled that immediately after the rescue, when asked if he was okay, the Ukrainian replied: "I am happy because my cat is alive." During the ascent from the gorge, which took more than five hours, the Ukrainian did not let go of the kitten.
It is noted that Duda left his home in the Kharkiv region more than a week before he got stuck in the Carpathians in Romania.
Currently, the man is being treated for the effects of hypothermia. The kitten has been sent to a rehabilitation center due to malnutrition, but it is expected to recover soon.
It should be noted that Ukrainian border service workers saved a man who tried to escape the country by crossing the Tisza River.
Additionally, border guards pulled out a man from the Dniester River in Vinnitsa who had attempted to illegally cross the border. It is reported that a 35-year-old resident of Kharkiv, wearing a wetsuit and fins, tried to swim to Moldova. A report on administrative violations was drawn up against him for attempting illegal border crossing, and the case was sent to court.
Furthermore, the counterintelligence of the Security Service uncovered a 52-year-old resident of the Zhytomyr region, who was an administrator of one of the Telegram channels "schemes for defectors" and collaborated with the FSB of the Russian Federation. He attempted to swim across a section of the Dnieper on the border with Belarus in fins to later move to the Russian Federation.
